Du hast dich sicher schon gefragt, was aktuell bei #Project3M+2 los ist, weil es länger keine Updates gab.

Fakt ist: Auf den europäischen Gletschern sieht es derzeit düster aus. Lediglich am Stilfserjoch gibt es noch Skibetrieb (siehe Foto) – allerdings ist der Gletscher mit früher kaum noch zu vergleichen. Vor 20 Jahren ging an dem Gebäude in der Bildmitte noch der Naglerlift hinauf. Heute ist dort kein Eis mehr. Diese Veränderungen tun extrem weh, und aktuell ist nur noch ein Bruchteil des Gebietes geöffnet.

Eigentlich sollte der Bond auf Brettern seit gut einer Woche in Südamerika sein, um dort Höhenmeter zu sammeln – die Bedingungen in Chile und Argentinien sind derzeit nahezu perfekt. Aber schon mal von Ghosting gehört? Genau das hat Christian Flühr in den letzten Wochen in Bezug auf das Projekt erlebt. Es ist ihm schlichtweg unmöglich ist, rund 10.000 € allein für die Flüge privat aufzubringen.

Die gute Nachricht: Er ist dem Rekord trotzdem weit näher, als es auf den ersten Blick scheint!

Wir hoffen nun sehr, dass Ende August der Wetterumschwung kommt und ein früher Wintereinbruch die europäischen Gletscher wieder aufleben lässt. Sobald die Skigebiete öffnen, wird Christian gemeinsam mit meinem Team die letzten Meter Richtung neuem Weltrekord in Angriff nehmen.

You’ve probably been wondering what’s happening with #Project3M+2, given the lack of recent updates. The reality is that the situation on European glaciers is currently bleak. Skiing is still possible only at the Stelvio Pass (see photo)—though the glacier is a shadow of its former self. Twenty years ago, the Nagler lift ran up to the building visible in the center of the image; today, there is no ice left there at all. These changes are heartbreaking, and only a fraction of the area is currently open. "Bond on Skis" was actually supposed to be in South America by now, racking up vertical meters—conditions in Chile and Argentina are currently near-perfect. But have you ever heard of "ghosting"? That is exactly what Christian Flühr has experienced regarding the project over the past few weeks. It is simply impossible for him to personally cover the roughly €10,000 cost of the flights alone. The good news: He is still much closer to the record than it might appear at first glance! We are now really hoping for a change in the weather at the end of August, with an early onset of winter breathing new life into the European glaciers. As soon as the ski resorts open, Christian and my team will tackle the final stretch toward the new world record. Keep your fingers crossed for Christian!
