Press release October 06th, 2025 (3M/10 ENG)
The countdown to the new ski world record has begun:
#Project3M – Christian Flühr's spectacular record hunt across five continents
More than 3 Million Vertical Meters in 365 Days – Lisbon to Vladivostok on Skis
In exactly one month, one of the world's most ambitious ski projects begins: Extreme athlete Christian Flühr embarks on #Project3M, an attempt to ski well over 3 million vertical meters within a year – and thus set a new world record.
Over 30 ski resorts on five continents will be part of this extraordinary mission. The goal is to complete a distance equivalent to the distance from Lisbon to Vladivostok – entirely on skis.
"#Project3M is not a race against time, but a journey to the limits of what is possible," explains Flühr. "I know what awaits me – and I have great respect for this task."
From Oberstdorf to Sarajevo: Experience the world on skis.
The record-breaking tour will take Flühr, among other places, to the Olympic slopes of Sarajevo, to Obertauern – the snowiest place in Austria –, to Germany's longest eight-seater chairlift in Willingen, to Germany's longest descent on the Oberstdorf-Kleinwalsertal cable cars, to Hochfügen, to the Tannheimer Valley, to the Sudelfeld ski paradise, and finally to the traditional Oberaudorf Hocheck.
This mountain in particular holds special significance for Flühr: "The Hocheck will be part of a world record for the fourth time – and it is dedicated to Hannes Rechenauer, who passed away this summer. Without him, the Hocheck wouldn't exist in this form. I'm sure he's watching from above and celebrating with us."
Not all of the destinations are known yet. But the fact is that there are still big names on the list.
Precision meets passion: The team behind the record.
What looks like an individual success is the result of months of planning with many helping hands. Around 50 team members are already working on #Project3M. At the helm: Sabrina Hoever (team leader) from the Netherlands and Tamara Kimmel (deputy team leader).
"They are people from very different backgrounds, but they all share a passion for the positive – and for Christian," says Hoever. "This energy carries us. We're looking forward to traveling all over Europe next winter and later around the world."
Technology meets transparency.
Flühr will complete the record attempt during regular ski operations – from the first lift in the morning to the last turn in the evening, partly under floodlights.
GPS watches, lift pass data, and a specially developed #Project3M app are used to objectively verify the vertical meters. Current intermediate results are always available via a live ticker and social media. - www.bond-auf-brettern.com/live-ticker
Press Launch in the Allgäu – October 21, 2025
Before the adventure officially begins, the kick-off press conference will take place on October 21, 2025, at the OK-Bergbahnen in the Allgäu.
"We will present something special there – as innovative as the project itself," Flühr reveals mysteriously.
